VALERIE REGNERUS M.A., Reg CASLPO
Speech Language Pathologist
Valerie Regnerus is a Speech-Language Pathologist with over 20 years experience working with children and families. She is trained in all aspects of speech and language disorders, but her clinical focus at Blueberry Therapy is in the area of Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders and their treatment. She holds a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and has completed post-graduate training through the International Association of Orofacial Myology.
In addition to her training in Orofacial Myology, Valerie also completed a Myofunctional Mini-Residency through the Myofunctional Research Co. This qualified her to work with dentists who use the Myobrace System, a pre-orthodontic treatment for children that is primarily directed at correcting the oral myofunctional habits that cause crooked teeth and underdeveloped jaws. By correcting these habits, better facial development and straighter teeth are achieved naturally, while the child is still growing. Airway growth and breathing patterns are also optimized, which can have multiple positive health effects. Valerie is currently collaborating with a dentist to provide this service to interested families.
Valerie works with children (as young as 3) and adults to help train the oral and facial muscles to develop optimally and to eliminate habits that interfere with normal function. Her work facilitates appropriate speech development, better breathing, correct chewing and swallowing mechanics, proper oral resting posture of the tongue and lips, ideal jaw growth, straighter teeth, and greater oral and overall health.
In her spare time Valerie likes to spend time outdoors with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys reading and researching, and has particular interest in the areas of functional medicine, regenerative agriculture, nutrition, and holistic healing.
